The goal is to provide a shared competence framework on sustainability at European level as a common basis to guide both educators and learners. Building a common understanding on sustainability can act as a catalyst for action. GreenComp draws on the advice and consensus of numerous experts and stakeholders. The Commission encourages Member States to use it as a reference when rolling out educational initiatives on sustainability.
GreenComp builds on the method developed, tested, and validated by the JRC to create the Digital Competence Framework for Citizens (DigComp), the Entrepreneurship Competence Framework (EntreComp), and the European Framework for Personal, Social and Learning to Learn Key Competence (LifeComp).
GreenComp responds to the growing need for people to improve and develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to live, work and act in a sustainable manner.
