COST aims to enable breakthrough scientific developments leading to new concepts and products. It thereby contributes to strengthening Europe’s research and innovation capacities.
The European Co-operation in the Field of Scientific and Technical Research (COST) Programme has issued its next collection date for its open call for new COST Action proposals.
COST invites European researchers and innovators to submit proposals for Actions aiming to address scientific, technological and societal challenges by promoting and spreading excellence, fostering interdisciplinary research for breakthrough science and empowering and retaining young researchers and innovators.
COST brings together researchers and innovators from all around the world to jointly develop ideas and initiatives across all science and technology fields through pan-European cooperation. COST encourages and fosters trans-, multi- and interdisciplinary approaches by integrating researchers and innovators from different fields and organisations such as universities, research centres, or companies. The Action does not fund research itself, but supports networking via different activities such as meetings, short-term scientific missions, training schools and dissemination products as part of COST Actions.
Proposals should reflect the main characteristics of COST Actions, namely, providing for knowledge sharing, creation and application, being excellence-driven, open and output-oriented while aiming at strengthening the scientific and technological basis of the proposed topic(s).
In addition, COST has a training initiative for COST Actions’ participants, the COST Academy. The COST Academy is a training initiative developed to support the COST Actions in managing their Action network. It offers trainings, workshops, and webinars on topics highly relevant for the performance of the Action networks.
Funding provided by COST supports networking activities, in particular:
Further, COST Actions can receive funding for other expenses supporting the Action:
COST Actions are funded via yearly Action Grant Agreements based on annual Work and Budget Plans.
The duration of a COST Action shall be 4 years.
COST Action proposals must represent a Network of Proposers (researchers and innovators from academia, public or private organisations, NGOs, industry and SMEs) from at least 7 different COST Full or Cooperating Members among which at least 50% shall be from COST Inclusiveness Target Countries (Cyprus, Czechia and Greece are included in this category).
