The objective of the AGRARIAN – Open Call 1 is to extend AGRARIAN scope and technology by inviting startups, SMEs, universities and research organizations to submit proposals that harness cloud, edge, and mixed-model technologies to address the challenges in agriculture, focusing on AI and IoT innovations. The goal is to find solutions that can be tested and validated within the AGRARIAN framework to improve efficiency, sustainability, and environmental friendliness in farming.
Proposals should include new methodologies for data collection and analysis and innovative edge/fog computing applications to process data on-site. The proposed technologies should be related to one of the three pilots (Livestock, Field Crops, and Viticulture).
Proposals are expected to address innovative solutions/services, AI based applications and new IoTs, related to one of the three pilots (Livestock, Field Crops, and Viticulture).
The proposed Applications/Solutions should:
1. be in line with AGRARIAN research topics and fall into one of the three Pilots (Livestock, Field Crops and Viticulture pilots).
2. be able to be tested and evaluated on one of the provided AGRARIAN testbeds (see below) or exploit the agricultural dataset provided by AGRARIAN
3. be edge based deployments, i.e. run at the edge nodes of the AGRARIAN testbeds infrastructure
4. address real-world agricultural problems
5. have high agricultural and social impact
The following types of Applications/Solutions (but not limited to) are expected to be funded:
1. Innovative Agricultural Tools
2. Sustainable Farming Solutions
3. Climate Resilience and Adaptation
4. Digital Solutions and Smart Farming
The total amount of funding that each selected proposal will receive is up to €50.000. It is expected that up to 8 applicants will be selected via this open call.
The selected applicants of OC1 will be funded as follows:
AGRARIAN OC 1 invites European SMEs, start-ups, universities and research centres, developing applications and tools for agriculture, to integrate and validate them on the AGRARIAN platform.
Selected projects are expected to start on April 1st 2025.
The expected duration of participation is 6 months.
