Programme Description
The LIFE Programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value. After 22 years, €3.4 billion and 4.170 projects, the LIFE Programme continues to finance actions for the environment and climate action.

Summary
The LIFE Regulation makes reference to the cooperation between the National Contact Points – NCP and recognizes their importance as a key actors of the LIFE programme to contribute to supporting applicants in the preparation phase of proposals; and during implementation of projects. This project aims to support the network of LIFE Programme’s National Contact Points and facilitate their trans– national cooperation, mutual learning activities and events to share experience.
Detailed Call Description
The proposed project should:
- aim to facilitate trans-national co-operation between LIFE National Contact Points (NCPs) with a view to identifying and sharing good practices and improving the support to LIFE programme applicants, thus increasing their successful participation;
- give special attention to enhancing the competence of NCPs, including helping less experienced NCPs to rapidly acquire the know-how built up in other countries;
- build, as far as possible, on the existing knowledge and tools generated by one or more the NCP, avoiding duplication and establishing synergies;
- open up to the participation of all NCPs, including the ones from OCTs and non-EU countries (newly) associated to the LIFE Programme, and encourage the active involvement of each NCP;
- organize yearly NCP Trainings.
After the analysis of different options, the idea of a network run by one or more NCPs was retained. This should allow NCPs to develop the ownership of the network activities.
