Horizon Europe is the European Union (EU) funding programme for the period 2021 – 2027, which targets the sectors of research and innovation. The programme’s budget is around € 95.5 billion, of which € 5.4 billion is from NextGenerationEU to stimulate recovery and strengthen the EU’s resilience in the future, and € 4.5 billion is additional aid.
Proposals under this Call are expected to make technological breakthroughs in the development of functional electronics technologies, to address the challenges and opportunities associated with green and digital transformation. Eco-design principles and in particular the reduction of energy and resource consumption should be taken into account. The emphasis of this topic will be on the advancement in the area of flexible, printed and organic electronics as low-cost/light- weight/less energy intensive approach to complement inorganic-based mainstream semiconductors.
Proposals will focus on activities related to:
Issues related to life cycle, end-of life, standardisation, certification and regulation compliance should be considered whenever appropriate. Proposals should include targets and metrics for decreasing use of resources in their chosen approaches.
