This open accelerator call is for funding and supporting citizen science initiatives addressing the IMPETUS challenge.
For this third and final IMPETUS Accelerator, is looking to support new and ongoing projects which focus on either of the following challenges:
“Citizen Science to Support Circular Communities”. Specifically, projects that address one or more of the following topics, which are related to SDGs #7, #11, #12, and #3:
“Citizen Science for a Fair and Just Society”. Specifically, projects that address one or more of the following topics, which are related to SDGs #4, #5, #10, and #16:
Successful applicants will be expected to design, implement and present the findings from a related citizen science projects over the course of seven months, and actively engage in the IMPETUS Accelerator, including mentoring, networking, and training sessions.
Submission for the IMPETUS Citizen Science Challenge 2024 will be online via the EasyChair platform. Applications will consist of a short proposal presenting the idea, implementation, resources and impact, as well as administrative information and a declaration of honour.
Applications which engage citizens in scientific activities producing new results, which are of mutual benefit to citizen scientists and project administrators alike will be prioritised.

The expected duration of participation will last 7 months. IMPETUS will provide funding for a seven-month project, which must be implemented during the IMPETUS acceleration program, scheduled to take place between June 2025 and January 2026.
For the IMPETUS call, in order to be eligible, the applicants can be: individuals, legal entities and consortia established in a country or territory in the European Research Area. This includes the European Union, all overseas countries and territories linked to EU member states and all third countries associated to or currently negotiating an association agreement with Horizon Europe (see also Eligible Countries IMPETUS Open Call 2025).
Every entity is allowed to participate in one application, either on its own or as part of a consortium.
IMPETUS has the following conflict of interest policy: Immediate family, partners, and members of staff of IMPETUS consortium members (including subcontractors), are prohibited to apply.
