Horizon Europe is the European Union (EU) funding programme for the period 2021 – 2027, which targets the sectors of research and innovation. The programme’s budget is around € 95.5 billion, of which € 5.4 billion is from NextGenerationEU to stimulate recovery and strengthen the EU’s resilience in the future, and € 4.5 billion is additional aid.
EIT UM aims to play a pivotal role in scouting and supporting the most innovative and impactful ventures. The overall purpose of the Strategic Business Alliance for Urban Mobility call is to foster potential collaborations between key partners to create high potential business opportunities able to accelerate the urban mobility sustainable transition. In this way, EIT UM would like to create the environment to enable innovative start-ups and companies’ growth in the urban mobility market.
EIT UM is looking for companies that have identified an innovative business opportunity to work together in a joint venture, that have already defined the business case, worked on the internal alignment and are now ready to deeply work on structuring the business model. The aim is to help companies through the specific steps of the joint venture creation, reduce risk and support them especially in the phase of structuring the business model and its launch and operationalization. EIT UM objective is to help partners boosting the business case through the distinct phases, from the structuring of the business process till the launch and operating model phase.

Successful projects shall demonstrate how to translate their work in a sustainable and profitable business, presenting clear business strategy according to Key Performance Indicators (KPI) definition.
The amount will be allocated to up to 3 projects (€50 000 per project). Each project will have an overall value of €59 500, out of which €50 000 can be reimbursed as EIT grant and €9 500 is co-funded by the applicants.
The default finance model for the Strategic Business Alliance on Urban Mobility pilot will be to provide a lump sum to beneficiaries The payment of pre-financing is done according to the budget distribution of the lump sum outlined in the approved project and to the type of entity.

This Call for Proposals is open to all types of legal entities established in the Member States of the European Union (EU), and/or in Third countries associated to Horizon Europe, disregarding their membership status in EIT Urban Mobility.
Consortium composition
Proposals must be composed of a minimum of 2 independent legal entities established in 2 different EU Member States and/or Third countries associated to Horizon Europe.
Participating in one of EIT Urban Mobility projects means being part of the EIT Urban Mobility community. All entities of selected proposals are asked to be part of the community and will be asked to choose the Gold Partner category – during the onboarding process. Gold members: they pay an annual fee of € 30 000 and have full access to all benefit packages offered by EIT Urban Mobility.
Leading cities: with an annual fee of €10 000, they have full access to the gold membership package and the additional city-specific services.
