The aim of the Programme Interreg Euro-Med 2021-2027 is to support the transition towards a climate-neutral and resilient society, ensuring a continuity with the 2014-2020 period Interreg MED programme. In this period, 2021-2027, it covers 69 regions of 10 EU countries (Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain) plus 4 IPA candidate countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia).The Programme has defined priorities and Specific Objectives (SO):
1.1: Consolidating a competitive innovation ecosystem
2.4: Promoting climate change adaptation and risks prevention
2.6: Supporting circular economy
2.7: Enhancing Nature & biodiversity
The target of Interreg Euro-MED Programme is to support the transition towards a climate-neutral and resilient society. This call concerns the: The Smarter and Greener Mediterranean priorities, implemented via Thematic projects, which encompass the issues tackled by the Programme’s 4 missions:
Each mission operates as a portfolio of actions on thematic issues within the Priorities, related Specific Objectives. Thematic projects are divided into: Study projects, Test projects, Transfer projects.
The ambition of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, which cooperation area covers 69 regions of 14 countries, is to support the transition towards a climate-neutral and resilient society, in line with the European Green Deal, the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, and the Territorial Agenda 2030.
In order to reach this goal and ensure concrete and manageable solutions, the Programme identified 4 missions:
Each mission operates as a portfolio of actions working on complementary thematic issues to enhance the full potential of their results. To contribute and to be part of a mission is for projects mandatory.
The actions under those missions are addressed within the Priorities, related Specific Objectives and types of projects supported by the Programme. The Smarter and Greener Mediterranean priorities, implemented via Thematic projects, encompass the issues tackled by the Programme’s missions. The Better Mediterranean Governance priority (not targeted by this call), implemented via Governance projects, is the backbone for strengthening and amplifying the results of the Thematic projects in cooperation and coordination with other Programmes, initiatives, and strategies in the area.
