The Cooperation Programme Interreg VI-A Greece-Cyprus 2021-2027 is a cross-border cooperation program that aims to strengthen actions between entities from the region of Crete, the regions of South and North Aegean and Cyprus.
The Programme will contribute towards a greener and more resilient Europe, towards a more social and inclusive Europe as well as to a greater security in Europe, thus becoming a strong driver for the development of the intervention area.
Insularity, as a basic and common characteristic of the intervention area, determines to a significant extent the particularities, but also the opportunities faced by the entire intervention area. Through cooperation, the two countries are trying to respond to their common investment needs that extend to many sectors of the economy (indicatively: research and development, energy, entrepreneurship, health, transport, sustainability, circular economy) but also to respond to common problems, as they arise in areas such as tourism and migration.
Therefore, and after relevant consultation with all relevant actors, the following priorities have been determined:

The 1st call for project proposals aims to select high-quality cross-border projects in which relevant actors will cooperate to find common solutions in areas such as environmental protection, climate change adaptation using efficient green energy solutions, risk prevention and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as well as socio-economic development through the enhancement of culture, sustainable tourism and the social economy.
