Build the European food safety knowledge ecosystem, ensuring safe food as the basis for healthy diets and sustainable food systems.
The core of the activities is to collect, appraise and integrate scientific evidence to answer questions about risks. The outcome of the work is scientific advice to risk managers, jointly produced by independent experts and EFSA staff. Everything is guided by values of Excellence, Independence, Openness, Accountability and Cooperation. The transparency of processes, together with the engagement activities, allows for interested parties to scrutinise our work and interact with EFSA team in an open dialogue on equal terms.
Individual experts and competent organisations are the main knowledge partners. Cooperate intensively with Member States risk assessment organisations via the Advisory Forum, the National Focal Points and Scientific Networks. Likewise, EFSA works with other EU agencies, international organisations and risk assessors in third countries to increase outreach and joint food safety impact.

This call for proposals aims to identify organisations for which tasks falling within the plant health mission of the PLANTS unit can be entrusted by EFSA. In particular, these tasks regard the commodity risk assessment and/or assessment of commodity treatments for the evaluation of the technical dossiers sent by Third Countries for High Risk Plants or for request of derogation of import prohibitions.

The objective of this call is to identify and award a four-year Framework partnership agreement (FPA) to one or more competent organisations or consortia thereof that can provide capacity and expertise (chemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, food technology, nutrition, ADME, exposure and toxicology) that are relevant for the assessment of NF technical dossiers.

The scope of this call is to select (existing and new) animal-based measures (ABMs) and related management-, resources- and environmental-based (so called ‘context’) data from sows and piglets and from different housing systems and practices, including slaughter, to collect in the field on a large scale and in a harmonised way across EU MSs. These data are to be used for developing a freely accessible prototype Database for analysing the correlation between ABMs and related context data and enabling future quantitative risk assessment of the welfare on-farm of sows and piglets.

The purpose of this call is to develop pest survey cards to support the EU MSs in the preparation of pest surveys, specifically for
The work consists in characterising (i) the pests, (ii) the population of host plants targeted by the surveys and (iii) the methods of detection and identification for these pests.
