AMIF Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund / Co-Financed

Summary

The Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund contributes to the effective management of migration flows and to the implementation, strengthening and development of the Common European Asylum policy and the common immigration policy, in accordance with the relevant Union acquis and in full respect of international obligations of the EU and Member States. The Fund addresses 4 Specific Objectives regarding the reception of TCNs and the Asylum system, Integration, Returns, as well as the Solidarity between member states in relation to migration issues.

Programme Description

AMIF pursues the following specific objectives:

  • S01. Enhancement and development of all aspects of the European Asylum System, including its foreign dimension;
  • S02. Enhancement and development of legal migration towards the Member States, in accordance with their economic and social needs, and promotion and facilitation of the effective integration and social inclusion of third-country nationals;
  • S03. Tackling illegal migration, enhancement of the effective, safe and decent return, as well as the promotion of and contribution to the effective initial reintegration into third countries;
  • S04. Enhancement of solidarity and fair distribution of responsibilities between the Member States, especially when it comes to Member States that are the most affected by migration and asylum, through practical cooperation.

Most relevant Thematic Categories:

  • Employment: Where a relevant project is included in AMIF programming, provided that the employment objective is specifically targeting Third Country Nationals
  • Public Administration: Where a relevant project is included in AMIF programming, the project should target public administration services or officials that implement AMIF objectives.
  • Justice-Security: This thematic category is linked, at least indirectly, to all AMIF projects.
  • Education and Training: If a project is included in AMIF programming, the project is expected to target education or training of TCNs or educators or officials in contact with TCNs.
  • Social Affairs & Human Rights: This thematic category is directly applied to all AMIF projects, since applying the Charter of Fundamental Human Rights of the EU in all AMIF projects, is a prerequisite of AMIF funding.
  • Migration and Citizenship: AMIF projects that are relevant to this Thematic Category, mainly promote Legal migration and Integration and/or activities/projects implemented by the Civil Registry and Migration Department.
  • Youth: Young and minor TCNs, including asylum seekers, are frequently the target group of AMIF projects.
  • Culture: Since AMIF projects promote human rights and integration of TCNs, they can indirectly contribute to further development of culture.

Total Budget

AMIF Programme funding, up until 18.12.2023 were: Around €82 millions of EU funds / €106 millions of total funds, including state funds.

    In their capacity as the Managing Authority of the Home Affairs Funds for the 2021-2027 Programming Period, the European Funds Unit of the Ministry of Interior plans to publish a Call for Proposals within the context of the national Programme of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and in accordance with the objectives stated in article 3 of the Regulation (EU) 2021/1147 of the European Parliament and the Council of 7th July 2021 establishing the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund.

    The Call for Proposals is expected to be published on 8 December 2023 and it will be pertinent to the funding of projects falling within the Specific Objectives 1 “Common European Asylum System” and 2 “Legal migration and integration”.
