The Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union is implemented in Cyprus through the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023-2027, which has been prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, which has been designated as the Managing Authority and has been approved by the European Commission.
The Strategic Plan aims to create foundations that will help farmers respect the environment and produce products in a way that will ensure natural resources for future generations. At the same time, it also aims to support farmers and breeders.
Also, the Strategic Plan aims to utilize new technologies to make farmers competitive.

The aim of Measure 7 and Intervention 4.4 is to develop the rural areas, by preserving and highlighting the natural and cultural wealth of rural areas, promote environmental and socioeconomic sustainability, upgrade the man-made environment of villages, encourage agrotourism, promote infrastructure that will house basic services, and improve the quality of life of residents in rural areas through developing public infrastructure projects. The projects that will be approved for funding will be incorporated in the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which ends on 31st December 2025, and will continue as phasing projects through the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027.

The Intervention is 100% financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF) and is included in the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027.
Beneficiaries of the intervention are existing and newly established wine enterprises producing or marketing grapevine products, wine producers’ organizations, associations of two or more producers or interbranch organizations. The application period has started on 7th of November 2023 and applications can be submitted through the Ministry Electronic System for Grant Schemes until 29st of February 2024. Applications and related supporting documents should be submitted only online at https://fundingapps.mcit.gov.cy.
